More bad news for gamers who bought the PC version of Modern Warfare 2.
This time around it is reported on the official Infinity Ward forum that there is a Trojan virus that is spreading with
everyone that are on IW.Net Modern Warfare 2.
The problem started when hackers put in a Trojan called TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen inside Modern Warfare 2 and let
IW.Net do the work of transmitting to other gamers. It has already been reported that Call of Duty: World at War is
infected also. The Trojan is suppose to be some sort of keylogging software, which means copying client cd-keys
or in a worst case scenario it will steal credit card information.
One of the community member at Tek-9 discovered the location of the Trojan in their
C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Local Settings\Temp and with the file names ~B8.tmp and ~B8.vir.
Also, these files are created once the player host a game on IW.Net.
On the good side some users are saying the Trojan virus is a false positive, however, it just makes you wonder why
would the file pop up in the first place. Hopefully, this will be all sorted out as soon as possible if not then guess we
gotta get that “Boycott” thing going again rah?
